One of the choices that boomers are making when it comes to housing is that they are moving into what agelessons calls Jewel Box Homes, homes with marble floors, granite countertops, bathroom refrigerators, built in vacuums, interior gardens and water features, in-home recycling features, commercial-grade appliances, media rooms with built in screens and projection systems, dual master suites with walk in closets, and all of this rendered on a smaller scale in a 2,000 square foot floor plan.  These are full amenity homes built on a smaller scale and confined to a single story. 

Jewel Box Homes are often built in small clusters of no more than a couple dozen homes and they are sold on a fee-simple basis with an association responsible for a guard house and gardens as well as exterior maintenance.
